Subaru plans to discontinue the sale of all combustion-powered vehicles in Europe after 2027. Starting in 2028, the automaker intends to offer only battery-electric models on the continent.

The Outback model will be removed from the European market at the end of 2027. Additionally, the hybrid versions of the Impreza, Crosstrek, and Forester will be phased out after 2027.

Following these changes, the company's European lineup will consist of three models: the Solterra, Uncharted, and E-Outback. These vehicles are being developed in collaboration with Toyota.

The decision to end the use of boxer engines in Europe is driven by tightening emissions regulations and new safety standards. Updating older electrical architectures and recertifying engines is considered too costly.
