SpaceX is preparing for the 15th test flight of its Starship system, which is scheduled to take place no earlier than November 2026. The mission will feature the Ship 42 spacecraft and the Super Heavy Booster 23, both of which are being equipped with upgraded Raptor engines.
Before integration, the new propulsion units are undergoing rigorous testing and verification at the company's facility in McGregor, Texas. Documentation of these preparations was recently shared during a NASA event, highlighting the technical upgrades currently underway at the Starfactory production site.
A primary objective of the upcoming flight is to demonstrate a dual-capture maneuver. This complex operation involves returning both the spacecraft and the booster to the launch site, where the tower will attempt to catch both stages. This requires precise engine performance and synchronized flight phases.
The 15th flight serves as a critical step in the ongoing development of the Starship architecture. The data collected during this mission will support preparations for future lunar expeditions, which aim to transport both cargo and astronauts into deep space.
