Photographer Max Evans captured a rare image featuring two specialized barges currently supporting US space programs. These vessels allow companies to transport large rocket components by sea, reducing reliance on land-based logistics infrastructure.
The Pegasus barge, originally built for space shuttle fuel tanks and later repurposed for SLS rocket stages, is now transporting the GS-2 second stage of Blue Origin's New Glenn rocket. It is currently delivering the hardware to the Stennis Space Center.
The second vessel, You’ll Thank Me Later, is operated by SpaceX. It is designed to carry both the Super Heavy booster and the Starship spacecraft. The barge moves equipment between Cape Canaveral in Florida and the Starbase facility in Texas.
Both barges play a critical role in the logistics chain for modern super-heavy launch vehicles. While Pegasus supports NASA and Blue Origin projects, You’ll Thank Me Later serves as a primary transport vehicle for the SpaceX Starship program.
