Sony has initiated the rollout of the Android 17 update for the Xperia 1 VII smartphone, following a similar release for the Xperia 1 VIII model. The update, identified by version number 71.2.A.2.35, is approximately 1.1GB in size and is currently being distributed to users in Europe, with plans for a broader regional expansion.
The software update introduces a redesigned quick settings panel, featuring a revamped interface and updated interaction patterns for the control center. A key addition is the new desktop mode, which allows users to connect a monitor, keyboard, and mouse to transform the phone interface into a PC-like environment for tasks such as web browsing and email management.
Furthermore, the update includes expanded personalization options, offering new lock screen wallpapers and clock styles. The screen recording tool has also been upgraded, now enabling users to record individual applications and choose between capturing system audio or microphone input.
