Xiaomi has officially launched the internal beta testing program for the latest software update for its Watch 5 smartwatch. The company is currently recruiting 500 participants for this 'Pioneer Experience Plan' to test the new features before a wider release.
The upcoming update introduces several functional improvements, including expanded capabilities for the 'Super Island' display feature. Users will also gain access to a new screenshot tool and a dedicated gaming mode, enhancing the overall utility of the wearable device.
The Xiaomi Watch 5, which debuted in December, features a 1.54-inch AMOLED display with 1500 nits of peak brightness and a 2.6mm bezel. The hardware is built with a stainless steel case and sapphire glass, supporting contact-based charging.
Internally, the device utilizes a dual-chip architecture powered by the Snapdragon W5 processor and a BES2800 low-power chip. This configuration allows for standalone app usage, such as maps and payment services, with a battery life reaching up to 6 days in performance mode or 18 days in power-saving mode.
