The Wi-Fi Alliance has recently certified two unannounced Sony devices, identified as gaming peripherals with model numbers CFI-Y2000 and CFI-Y2105. These designations suggest an evolution from the current PlayStation Portal, which carries the model number CFI-Y1001.

Technical documentation reveals that both new models operate on the Android 15 platform. This aligns with the software architecture of the existing PlayStation Portal, whereas the PlayStation 5 console utilizes a proprietary operating system.

Despite the hardware updates, the certification indicates that the devices will continue to support 1x1 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi connectivity. There is no evidence of 6GHz support or additional antenna arrays in the current filings.

Industry speculation, including reports from hardware leaker KeplerL2, suggests these models could feature an OLED display. This follows the release of the original 8-inch LCD PlayStation Portal, which debuted in late 2023.
