On October 8, 2026, Solana Foundation Technical VP Jacob Creech stated that the network remains secure against potential quantum and AI-driven threats. He emphasized that users do not need to perform mass wallet migrations, as the current Ed25519 signature scheme protects the underlying secret seeds, which are never exposed on-chain.
Solana has taken several steps to prepare for post-quantum security. In late 2025, the foundation partnered with Project Eleven for a threat assessment. By April 2026, client teams Anza and Firedancer selected the Falcon signature scheme, which aligns with NIST standards. Additionally, the foundation has conducted testnets for post-quantum signatures.
The network has also integrated the Winternitz Vault, which has provided hash-based quantum-resistant protection since January 2025. Developers have released an open-sourced proof-of-concept that allows users to verify seed ownership and transition to quantum-resistant schemes, though this has not yet been deployed as a network-wide production feature.
