The Solana Foundation, a non-profit organization based in Zug, Switzerland, has officially launched the Solana Scholars program. This initiative offers paid internships to doctoral students, allowing them to conduct blockchain research in direct collaboration with the foundation's engineering team.

Announced on September 30, 2026, the program aims to address technical challenges related to blockchain scalability, security, and censorship resistance. The foundation expects that building a stronger pipeline of technical talent will contribute to long-term network improvements.

The foundation has previously established similar educational and developer initiatives, including the Breakpoint Global Fellows scholarship, which began in 2021, and the University Ambassador Program. Earlier in 2026, the organization also introduced the Solana Developer Platform in March and the STRIDE program in April.

While the foundation notes that these research efforts could potentially influence the value of the SOL token, it emphasizes that such outcomes are not guaranteed. At the time of the announcement, the organization did not disclose specific details regarding stipend amounts, the number of participants, or application deadlines.
