Several Chinese smartphone manufacturers are planning to reduce the amount of RAM in their upcoming devices compared to previous models. According to industry insider Fixed Focus Digital, this shift is already underway as companies adjust their hardware configurations.
Under the new market trend, flagship devices will be equipped with 12 GB of RAM. Mid-range smartphones are expected to feature 8 GB, while budget models will return to a base configuration of 4 GB, with higher-end versions offering 6 GB.
This strategy marks a return to hardware standards seen several years ago, before manufacturers began increasing base memory to 6 GB or 8 GB in entry-level devices. The adjustment is largely driven by the rising costs of memory components.
While the specific companies involved remain unnamed, the trend has already been observed in several recently announced smartphone models. Manufacturers are facing pressure from increasing component prices, which influences these hardware specifications.
