In 2025, SK Hynix reported revenue of $67.2 billion, marking a 42.3% increase compared to the previous year. This growth elevated the company to the third position among global chip suppliers. In contrast, Intel recorded revenue of $48.5 billion, representing a 3.7% decline.
The performance of SK Hynix is largely attributed to high-bandwidth memory (HBM), where the company maintains approximately 50% of the market share. SK Hynix remains the primary HBM supplier for Nvidia. In the second quarter of 2026, the company achieved operating margins of around 76%.
Intel was the only company among the top 10 chip suppliers to experience a decline in 2025. In August 2026, Intel raised $20 billion through a common stock offering of 210.5 million shares at $95 per share. The company is also reporting net losses.
On October 6, 2026, Intel and Applied Materials announced a technical partnership. The collaboration focuses on developing next-generation transistors, interconnect scaling, and advanced packaging for AI workloads. Research will be conducted at the EPIC Center and Intel’s Oregon site.
