ChangXin Memory Technologies (CXMT) has adopted a strategy prioritizing the domestic Chinese market over international partnerships. The company has declined requests from Apple for discounted memory chip pricing and rejected supply agreements with overseas entities, including a Taiwanese server manufacturer seeking DDR5 memory.
CXMT is currently supplying LPDDR6 memory to local companies such as Xiaomi. The firm faces a situation where demand from Chinese technology enterprises, including Huawei and Xiaomi, significantly outpaces its current production capacity. This high domestic demand allows the company to maintain order volumes without needing to compete on price in international markets.
The company's focus remains on accelerating the autonomy of the Chinese semiconductor industry. By prioritizing local clients, CXMT aims to build a long-term supply system within China. Industry analysts note that this shift challenges the long-standing market dominance of international giants like Samsung, SK Hynix, and Micron.
Looking ahead, the demand for memory chips in China is expected to grow further due to the expansion of the smartphone, artificial intelligence, and server sectors. While achieving full domestic supply remains a long-term goal, the current trajectory suggests that Chinese manufacturers may gradually reduce their reliance on foreign memory suppliers.
