SK Hynix is currently in talks with Intel regarding potential memory chip production in the United States. The companies are discussing options such as leasing space at Intel’s Ohio facility or establishing a joint venture that could include cloud computing partners.

Following the reports, Intel shares rose by 5.2% in pre-market trading, while SK Hynix stock increased by 4% in Seoul. Despite the market reaction, SK Hynix stated that no definitive agreements or production plans have been finalized at this stage.

The Ohio project was initially announced with a potential investment of up to $100 billion. The two companies have a history of collaboration, notably the 2020 acquisition of Intel’s NAND flash business by SK Hynix for $9 billion.

SK Hynix is already developing an AI chip packaging plant in Indiana with an investment of approximately $4 billion, aiming for mass production by 2029. A potential deal in Ohio would expand the company's US manufacturing footprint further.
