Sigma has unveiled the FP2, a compact full-frame mirrorless camera featuring a 24.5-megapixel partially stacked BSI CMOS sensor. The device offers improved autofocus with bird recognition, continuous shooting at up to 20fps, and video recording capabilities reaching 6K at 60fps or 4K at 120fps in crop mode.
The camera includes a 3.2-inch articulating LCD touchscreen and a more durable full-size HDMI port. Connectivity options consist of two USB-C ports, including one 10Gbps USB 3.2 Gen 2 interface for external SSD recording in ProRes RAW. Internal storage is supplemented by 70GB of built-in memory alongside a single SD card slot.
The FP2 features an upgraded battery providing 30 percent more life than its predecessor, supporting approximately 370 photos or 130 minutes of video. The body is slightly heavier than the original, with an increase of about 6 grams for the chassis and 40 grams with the battery installed.
Sales begin on November 11th with a starting price of $2,199 for the body. Bundles priced at $2,749 include either the EVF-21 viewfinder, which features a 5.76 million dot OLED panel and eye sensor, or an I-series 50mm F2 DG lens.
