Volcano Engine has officially launched the Draft mode for its Seedance 2.5 API. This feature allows users to generate 480P preview clips to validate creative concepts before committing to high-quality 1080P final renders. The process is designed to reduce production costs and speed up the creative workflow for enterprises and individual creators.
The 1080P final version maintains the structure, composition, and motion of the selected 480P draft. By reusing parameters such as prompts, reference materials, seed values, aspect ratios, and durations, the model ensures consistency between the preview and the final output. This method provides native 1080P quality, offering more realistic details and lighting compared to traditional upscaling.
Efficiency gains are significant, especially in complex production pipelines. For a 5-second 1080P clip, assuming four attempts to find a satisfactory result, the Draft mode reduces costs by 57% and nearly doubles generation speed. In scenarios requiring higher iteration, such as a 20-to-1 selection ratio, cost savings can reach up to 77%.
Enterprise users can activate this feature via the Seedance 2.5 API by setting the draft parameter to true. Individual creators can access the mode directly through the Jimeng platform by selecting the Seedance 2.5 Draft model. The tool is currently available for use on the Volcano Ark platform.
