The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) will host a public roundtable on November 9, 2026, to discuss how AI systems process financial disclosures. The event, titled Machine-Understandable Data in the Age of Super Intelligence, will take place at the agency headquarters in Washington, D.C.
Representatives from major financial and technology firms, including BlackRock, JPMorgan, Meta, Google, S&P, and Two Sigma, are scheduled to participate. The discussion will focus on the use of machine-understandable data, as well as associated risks, governance challenges, and the costs of producing structured filings.
The SEC has long promoted structured formats like XBRL and Inline XBRL to facilitate machine-readable disclosures. Data demand is growing, with the volume of Form N-PORT filings, which detail portfolio holdings, increasing more than 14 times year-over-year through July 2026.
This roundtable follows a September 2026 panel on AI and public markets and responds to an Executive Order regarding super intelligence. The agency intends to gather feedback that may influence future regulatory practices, though the event is not a formal rule proposal.
