SberTech has updated its Platform V Pangolin DB, a PostgreSQL-based relational database management system. The new storage mechanism reduces data footprint on servers by up to two times. Additionally, disk space usage for transaction logs is decreased by five to 20 times.
The optimization works by eliminating data and index duplication and moving outdated row versions to a separate log. This approach reduces disk I/O, improves system recovery times, and creates performance headroom for peak loads. The update is aimed at large enterprises building IT infrastructure on PostgreSQL-compatible systems.
According to SberTech CEO Maxim Tyatyushev, the solution is designed for industries including finance, retail, telecommunications, and the public sector. It allows companies to manage growing data volumes without excessive investment in server hardware expansion or maintenance.
Platform V Pangolin DB is a Russian-made, FSTEC-certified database included in the national software registry. Currently, over 150,000 installations are in operation across various critical business applications and services.
