Sber has introduced SberJDK, a commercial Java platform based on OpenJDK. The company has released the source code for the base version, which is now available as open source software. This version is included in the Unified Register of Russian Software and can be used in corporate systems without licensing fees.
The platform is designed as a domestic alternative to foreign Java solutions and complies with Java standards. Sber has already migrated its internal Java landscape to this platform, testing its reliability on critical business systems. The bank reports that the base version has been successfully validated in production environments.
Sber is also utilizing artificial intelligence to optimize the Java platform. According to the company, these AI-driven optimizations provide a performance increase of approximately 20% for target workloads without requiring any changes to the application code. These technologies are being developed separately from the open-source base version.
The bank notes that these optimization tools allow for higher efficiency on existing infrastructure. Sber continues to evaluate the performance of these solutions across various industrial workloads and is exploring the potential for deploying these optimization technologies beyond its own internal infrastructure.
