Samsung SDI has entered into a new agreement with the American energy storage company Alpha Omega Power to supply 1 GWhr of energy storage system solutions. This contract brings the total volume of agreements between the two companies to 1.5 GWhr.

The batteries will be manufactured at the StarPlus Energy facility in Indiana, a joint venture between Samsung SDI and Stellantis. The company plans to complete the delivery of the ordered systems before the end of this year.

The order includes the SBB 1.7 battery box, which utilizes a high-nickel NCA chemical composition. This model offers a capacity of 6.14 MWhr per unit, representing a 17 percent increase in energy density compared to the previous SBB 1.5 version, with a service life of 25 years.

The system features a patented direct fire extinguishing agent injection module and AI algorithms for early anomaly detection and battery life prediction. The product complies with the NFPA 855 installation standard and the UL 9540 safety standard.
