Samsung Electronics plans to quadruple its foundry client base by 2029 compared to 2017 levels. Senior Vice President Noh Mi-jung stated that the number of clients has already tripled since the foundry division became an independent unit in 2017.

The company is shifting its focus from mobile products toward artificial intelligence and high-performance computing. HPC accounted for 5% of foundry revenue in 2017, rose to 28% currently, and is projected to reach 66% by 2029.

Samsung aims for HPC clients to represent more than half of its total customer base by 2029. The company also expects HPC to generate the majority of its total sales revenue by that time.

Technological development plans include mass production of the third-generation 2nm process in 2028, followed by the 1.4nm process in 2029.

In the United States, Samsung expects to begin initial operations at its first semiconductor plant in Taylor, Texas, by the end of this year. Construction of a second facility at the same site is scheduled to begin this year, with mass production targeted for 2030.
