Samsung Electronics reported a record-breaking quarterly operating profit of ₩107.44 trillion ($80.5 billion) for the third quarter. This result marks the first time a South Korean company has exceeded the ₩100 trillion threshold in quarterly operating profit, representing a 780% increase compared to the previous year.
The company's quarterly revenue reached ₩195.25 trillion, a 127% year-over-year growth. Net profit rose by 515% to ₩75.15 trillion. The Device Solutions unit, responsible for the semiconductor business, generated ₩147.1 trillion in revenue and ₩106.5 trillion in operating profit, driven by high demand for AI-related memory chips.
The board of directors approved a cash dividend of ₩30 trillion for shareholders, which equates to ₩4,601 per share. Meanwhile, the MX and Networks unit, which includes smartphone sales, recorded an operating loss of ₩0.6 trillion on total sales of ₩37.7 trillion, partly due to rising memory chip costs.
Samsung's display business contributed ₩8 trillion in revenue and ₩1.1 trillion in operating profit. Looking ahead, the company expects a boost in the fourth quarter from flagship smartphone sales, including the Galaxy S26 series and Galaxy Z Fold8 models. Additionally, Samsung has partnered with Mistral AI to integrate artificial intelligence into its semiconductor design and manufacturing.
