The American company Ioengine has filed a lawsuit against Samsung in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas. The plaintiff alleges that the South Korean manufacturer has illegally utilized five patents related to data connectivity and exchange technologies without authorization or royalty payments.

The list of devices cited in the complaint includes the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, Galaxy Watch Ultra, Galaxy Buds2 Pro, and the Samsung T7 portable SSD. Ioengine notes that this list is not exhaustive, meaning the claims could potentially extend to other products within the company's lineup.

Ioengine is seeking compensation for past infringements in the form of reasonable royalties, though no specific amount has been disclosed. Additionally, the plaintiff is pursuing a permanent injunction against certain Galaxy smartphones and portable SSDs to halt their sale in the United States.

A court-ordered injunction could force Samsung to stop selling specific devices in the American market. However, the company might also choose to modify or disable the features associated with the disputed technology to resolve the issue. Ioengine has also proposed a licensing agreement as an alternative to a total sales ban.
