Samsung is set to release preliminary third-quarter financial results this Thursday, with a full report expected in late October. Analysts have recently lowered their operating profit forecasts for the company by nearly 8% since the end of August, citing a slowdown in chip price growth and the strength of the Korean won.

Despite these downward revisions, market experts still anticipate that Samsung will report a nearly ninefold increase in operating profit for the quarter. The chip shortage, which has persisted for over a year, is projected to continue through 2027 and potentially into 2028, impacting the costs of electronics ranging from smartphones to autonomous vehicles.

The demand for high-bandwidth memory, driven by the expansion of AI data centers, has significantly influenced Samsung's market position. While this boom helped boost the company's stock price, it also tightened supply for other product lines. In response to these market conditions, memory has become a primary growth driver for the firm.

On September 29, Samsung announced a $1 billion investment in Helix Digital Infrastructure, an AI-focused company launched by KKR in June. Samsung Electronics is contributing $500 million to this venture, with the remaining $500 million provided by five other Samsung affiliates.
