Samsung is currently evaluating the development of a second foldable smartphone model to accompany the Galaxy Z Fold9, which is expected to launch in 2027. The company aims to strengthen its market position against the upcoming Apple iPhone Duo.
The proposed Pro variant of the Galaxy Z Fold9 is expected to feature a larger display, increased battery capacity, and improved thermal management. It may also include an upgraded camera system with a dedicated zoom lens and enhanced performance capabilities.
Alternatively, the FE model is being considered as a more accessible option. Reports suggest this version could feature a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera, replacing the 50-megapixel sensor found in the Z Fold8, and utilize an Exynos 2600 processor instead of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy.
The pricing strategy for the FE model is intended to position it below the $1,699 price point. Samsung is currently weighing these two distinct product paths to expand its foldable device portfolio.
