Samsung Group has invested $1 billion into Helix Digital Infrastructure, a startup focused on AI-ready data centers. The funding is distributed across six subsidiaries, with Samsung Electronics contributing $500 million and five other affiliates, including Samsung C&T and Samsung SDS, providing the remainder.
Helix Digital Infrastructure was launched in June 2026 with over $10 billion in committed capital. Key investors in the company include the Kuwait Investment Authority, NVIDIA, and Vistra. The startup aims to address power and capacity constraints in hyperscale data centers.
The company is led by former Amazon Web Services CEO Adam Selipsky, while Waldemar Szlezak, formerly of KKR, serves as Chief Investment Officer. KKR played a significant role in the initial launch of the firm on June 11, 2026.
By involving multiple business units, Samsung aims to secure downstream contracts for construction, engineering, and IT services. As a major memory chip manufacturer, Samsung expects the expansion of hyperscale data centers to drive demand for its high-bandwidth memory and solid-state drives.
