Samsung has intensified its marketing campaign for foldable smartphones following the announcement of the Apple iPhone Duo. The company installed billboards in South Korea, the UK, and Japan, while also using social media to emphasize its long-standing experience in the sector since 2019.

The company highlights the evolution of its foldable devices, noting that the weight of the flagship model dropped from 253g in the Galaxy Z Fold 5 to 201g in the Galaxy Z Fold 8. Thickness has also been reduced from 17.1mm in the first model to 8.9mm in the latest generation.

To achieve these results, Samsung utilized a titanium alloy plate thinner than a human hair and redesigned 270 components. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra features a 5000 mAh battery, an increase from the 4400 mAh capacity found in its predecessor, despite the focus on weight reduction.

Samsung Display, a subsidiary of the corporation, produces flexible screens for the new Apple iPhone Duo. Analysts from Counterpoint Research note that while Samsung currently leads the foldable market, the entry of Apple poses a significant competitive threat to its market share.
