Digital Development, a subsidiary of the Samolet Group, has migrated its virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) to the Cloud.ru platform. The project involved moving 900 virtual machines equipped with GPUs to the cloud environment to support design software such as AutoCAD and Revit.

The migration enabled the company to implement auto-scaling and automated shutdown protocols for its computing resources. Virtual machines are now automatically deactivated after two hours of inactivity outside of working hours, or if an employee is on leave, ensuring payment only for actual resource usage.

These optimizations resulted in a fourfold reduction in monthly infrastructure costs for design applications. Additionally, the integration of Revit Server Accelerator modules in the cloud environment improved model loading and synchronization speeds by 15% during testing.

The entire migration process was completed within one month. According to Oleg Tikhonov, CIO of Samolet Group, the company intends to continue migrating its remaining IT systems to the cloud in the future.
