The Russian Ministry of Digital Development is currently in negotiations with Apple to enable 5G connectivity for iPhone users within the country. Minister Maksut Shadayev confirmed the ongoing discussions regarding this feature.

While 5G networks recently launched in Russia, initial access is restricted to Android-based devices. Apple does not currently list 5G support for Russian carriers, as the company requires testing before updating its carrier configurations.

At present, 5G services are operational in 16 Russian cities, covering approximately 10 million subscribers. The government is also working to expand this network infrastructure to an additional 50 cities by the end of 2026.
