The Russian market for new laptops experienced a 19% decline in unit sales from January to September 2026 compared to the previous year, according to ICMR data. During this period, 1.94 million units were sold, totaling 132 ₽ billion, which indicates a 5% decline in monetary terms due to rising prices.
Retailers and analysts attribute the downturn to a 30–35% increase in the cost of new laptops over the past year. As a result, consumers are increasingly opting for repairs or secondary market alternatives. Data from Platform OFD shows an 11% rise in repair service requests, with the median check for such services also increasing by 11% to 2603 ₽.
The market for refurbished and used devices is expanding rapidly. M.Video reported a nearly fourfold increase in sales of refurbished electronics in the first nine months of 2026, with a 300% growth in turnover. Similarly, the RWB group noted that sales of used laptops on the WB Resale platform grew nearly fivefold between March and September 2026.
Market dynamics are further influenced by changes in product availability. In May 2026, several major brands were removed from the parallel import list, leading to a narrower selection in official retail. Meanwhile, procurement prices for Chinese-manufactured laptops increased by 10% in October 2026, contributing to the overall shift in consumer behavior toward budget models and longer device lifecycles.
