The demand for hyperscale modular data centers in Russia is growing rapidly. Since the beginning of 2024, the number of requests for such facilities has increased by 300%, while the total monetary value of these requests has grown 45.9 times.
The fuel and energy complex (FEC) fuel and energy complex is the leading sector. It accounts for 36% of all requests for facilities with 100 or more racks. IT and cloud services companies follow with 29%, and telecommunications companies make up 23%. The real estate and infrastructure management segment represents 12%.
Some current requests for modular infrastructure are comparable to stationary objects. Solutions for 4,896 racks with a total IT load of up to 108 MW are currently being developed.
The transition to hyperscale modular data centers has been enabled by the digitalization of production. The use of BIM modeling, automation, and robotics has allowed for the series production of standardized functional modules with pre-installed engineering equipment.
