The Russian Academy of Sciences is currently collecting research proposals for the future Russian Orbital Station. According to Anatoly Petrukovich, director of the Space Research Institute, a long-term experimental program will be finalized within approximately one year.
The selection process involves evaluating the scientific significance of proposals, followed by a technical feasibility review conducted by RSC Energia. Once technical assessments are complete, experts will evaluate the economic viability of each project. Planned research areas include atmospheric studies, near-Earth space monitoring, radiation analysis, and Earth observation.
The deployment schedule for the station is set to begin in 2028, when the Prichal module of the ISS Russian segment is decommissioned to make room for a new universal docking module. This will be followed by the launch of a science and power module.
By 2030, the new modules are expected to integrate with the Nauka laboratory module to begin independent flight operations. The full deployment of the national orbital station is scheduled for completion by 2034.
