Specialists at RSC Energia have commenced the assembly of the primary module for the Russian Orbital Station (ROS). This component is designated as the universal node module, a critical element for the future orbital complex.
Dmitry Bakanov, head of Roscosmos, confirmed that the project is under the personal supervision of Igor Maltsev, the general director of RSC Energia. The development timeline for the station involves deployment in an near-polar orbit across two distinct phases between 2027 and 2033.
Current plans indicate that the existing Prichal module will be deorbited in 2028 alongside a Progress MS spacecraft. The new universal node module is intended to replace it. By 2030, this module, along with the Science and Power and Science modules, will be detached from the ISS to form the foundation of the independent national station, with full deployment expected by 2034.
