Rostelecom has completed the deployment of a digital surveillance infrastructure for the upcoming elections in the Sverdlovsk Region. The voting period is scheduled from September 18 to September 20, 2026, covering elections for the State Duma, the regional legislative assembly, and local municipal bodies across 35 districts.
The provider has installed nearly 3,000 IP cameras within polling stations and territorial election commissions. The system is designed to monitor election commission workstations, ballot boxes, and the final vote counting process while maintaining voter privacy and minimizing blind spots.
Video feeds are transmitted via secure high-speed optical communication channels to a dedicated service portal and a media screen at the Public Observation Center in Yekaterinburg. The infrastructure utilizes distributed data centers and redundant systems to ensure stability under peak loads.
During the election period, Rostelecom staff will operate in an enhanced monitoring mode to ensure the continuous functionality of the cameras and data transmission. The company has been providing similar surveillance solutions for Russian elections since 2012.
