Rivian has secured the second position in the US electric vehicle market for the third quarter of 2025. This marks a significant rise from the tenth place held by the company in the previous year.

The shift in rankings follows a general decline in sales across most automotive brands during the third quarter. Exceptions to this downward trend included Rivian, Mercedes, Lexus, Toyota, and Subaru, all of which benefited from the introduction of new models.

Rivian's growth is largely attributed to the launch of the R2, a smaller and more affordable model positioned to compete with the Tesla Model Y. In the third quarter, the company recorded 3,456 sales of the R2.

While Tesla remains the market leader in the US, it experienced a nearly 20% year-over-year decline in sales. Meanwhile, General Motors, which previously held the second-place spot, has seen its market position shift as it prepares to discontinue the Chevrolet Bolt.
