Rivian has released its annual Halloween software update, featuring a theme based on the Ghostbusters franchise. The update introduces cosmetic changes to the vehicle user interface, including custom light sequences, sound effects, and a modified voice for the digital assistant.

The package includes interactive elements such as a scavenger hunt for hidden characters and a themed game accessible on the center display while the vehicle is parked. These features extend to the Rivian mobile app, watch app, and the screens integrated into the company's charging stations.

To promote the update, Rivian created a one-off vehicle named ECTO-R1, which is a modified R1S model styled after the classic Ectomobile. The promotional video for this project features actor Bill Murray.

The Halloween features are available through software versions 2026.36.0 for the R1 and 2026.36.40 for the R2. The mode is active for a limited period, running from October 9 through November 2.
