Redmi product manager Hu Xinxin reported that memory costs have increased by approximately 5.5 times over the past 12 months. According to third-party data, the cost for a 12GB plus 256GB memory configuration has approached ¥2000, complicating product pricing strategies for mobile manufacturers.

Xiaomi recently launched the Redmi K100 smartphone. The base 12GB plus 256GB model has a suggested retail price of ¥3499, with a limited-time promotional price of ¥2999 and a government subsidy price of ¥2549.15. Higher configurations are also available with similar discounts.

Rising hardware costs are impacting the industry, leading some companies to discontinue product lines to avoid losses. Meizu announced on February 27 that it would halt internal hardware development for new domestic smartphones, while OPPO recently shifted its strategy for the realme and OnePlus brands across various global markets.
