Credit default risk for U.S. companies heavily invested in AI infrastructure has reached record highs. Market data shows a significant widening of credit default swap (CDS) spreads for major industry participants, including Oracle, SoftBank, and CoreWeave.
The situation is particularly acute for CoreWeave, where current CDS spreads indicate a 63% probability of default over the next five years. This trend highlights increasing investor anxiety regarding the sustainability of debt-fueled expansion strategies within the artificial intelligence sector.
While some tech giants like Amazon and Alphabet remain insulated due to their substantial cash reserves, other firms face mounting pressure. Market observers are now closely monitoring future funding rounds, potential corporate restructuring, and official financial disclosures to gauge the stability of highly leveraged AI-focused entities.
