Ripple and Robinhood are broadening their collaboration to integrate the RLUSD stablecoin into Robinhood’s retail and institutional platforms. The stablecoin is currently accessible via Robinhood Chain and Bitstamp by Robinhood, with a full application launch scheduled for later this year. Robinhood also intends to utilize the XRP Ledger for institutional settlement processes.
The partnership extends to internal operations, with Robinhood adopting Ripple Treasury for global cash management, liquidity, and payment processing. Additionally, the companies are expanding their work with Ripple Prime, which supports financing for Bitstamp by Robinhood and plans to launch perpetual futures trading on the exchange before the end of the year.
Since its inception in December 2024, RLUSD has achieved a market capitalization of $2.57 billion, with nearly $1 billion issued on the XRP Ledger. Robinhood, which reported 28.6 million global funded customers as of August, serves as a key distribution channel for the asset.
Ripple has also deepened its relationship with BNY, which now supports the custody of XRP and RLUSD. The collaboration aims to enable BNY clients to mint and redeem RLUSD directly through the bank. Furthermore, Ripple partnered with C2FO to integrate the Instant Pay service onto the XRP Ledger, allowing for rapid invoice settlement using RLUSD.
These developments follow Ripple’s recent approval from the US Office of the Comptroller of the Currency to establish a national trust bank. This new institution will handle reserves for RLUSD and provide digital asset custody, while the issuance of the stablecoin will continue through Ripple’s New York-regulated subsidiary.
