Rimac is expanding its partnership with BMW by developing two additional vehicle models. The collaboration builds on the existing relationship, which already includes the implementation of a joint battery system in the new BMW i7.
The current battery architecture integrates BMW Gen6 4695 lithium-ion cylindrical cells with Gen5 module technology. Rimac handles the production of these systems at its facility located near Zagreb, Croatia.
Mate Rimac secured the supply contract by demonstrating the company's production capabilities directly to BMW executives during the early construction phase of the Rimac Campus. The company aims to maintain competitive technical and commercial standards to remain a supplier for the premium automotive segment.
Beyond its work with BMW, Rimac provides technology for various manufacturers, including Koenigsegg, Aston Martin, Porsche, and Ceer. The company recently gained more operational autonomy following a change in its shareholder structure.
