Hardware Unboxed conducted a new performance analysis of the Radeon RX 9050 4GB graphics card. The initial tests were performed on a system with a Ryzen 7 9800X3D processor, but the team opted for a more realistic configuration. They utilized a CyberPower PC priced at $750, featuring a Ryzen 5 5500 processor and 16 GB of RAM, upgraded from the original 8 GB.

The test system operates on the PCIe 3.0 standard and uses DDR4 memory. Researchers compared the Radeon RX 9050 4GB against the Intel Arc B570 and the Radeon RX 9050 8GB. The results showed that the performance gap between the 4GB and 8GB versions of the Radeon RX 9050 widened from 41% on the high-end system to 68% on the budget configuration.

The average performance of the 8GB model dropped by 12% with the slower processor, while the 4GB model saw a 27% decline. Across 17 games tested in Full HD at low or medium settings, the card failed to maintain 60 frames per second, with the 1% Low metric falling to 32 frames per second. Testing at maximum settings resulted in a two-to-threefold decrease in performance.

The Intel Arc B570 also experienced a significant performance drop of 23% when moved to the slower system. Despite this decline, the performance relationship between the Intel Arc B570 and the Radeon RX 9050 4GB remained consistent with the results observed during the initial testing on the more powerful hardware.
