The decentralized AI computing network Qubic suspended its mainnet on October 18, 2026, following an exploit that drained 1,404 user wallets. The attacker stole approximately 2.94 trillion QU tokens, valued at roughly $1.3 million.

The breach occurred between 23:42 UTC on October 17 and 01:26 UTC on October 18. Developers attributed the incident to weak, predictable wallet seeds generated on legacy Apple devices, Safari browsers, and early iOS applications, rather than a network code flaw.

Validators halted the chain at tick 85,371,949 to secure the ledger. Approximately 87.1% of the stolen tokens remain frozen on-chain, while 12.9% reached the MEXC exchange, which subsequently froze the associated account.

Bitget has suspended all deposits and withdrawals of QUBIC tokens. The Qubic team released client version 4.26.4 to address the seed-generation vulnerability and secured other exposed funds.

The network's Computor cluster will determine whether to compensate affected users. In the meantime, the team has advised victims to file police reports. This incident marks the second security issue for Qubic in 2026, following the Vottun Bridge exploit in August.
