Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon revealed that AI companies have requested the development of a mobile platform capable of running 100B parameter models locally on smartphones by 2028. This advancement aims to improve on-device AI experiences and multi-agent coordination.

Amon anticipates that AI agents will trigger a new super-cycle for smartphone upgrades, potentially offsetting the impact of rising device prices. He also highlighted smart glasses as the most promising wearable AI form factor.

Regarding network infrastructure, Qualcomm expects to demonstrate 6G technology at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. The company projects that early deployment of 6G networks will likely commence between 2029 and 2030, facilitating real-time data transmission for AI applications.
