Qualcomm has expanded its flagship lineup with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 and Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6. These processors are manufactured using TSMC 2nm technology and feature core clock speeds reaching up to 5GHz.
The company is currently developing a new chip codenamed Honu, identified as model SM8A75. This upcoming processor, potentially the seventh generation of the Snapdragon 8 series, aims to achieve clock speeds between 5.3GHz and 5.4GHz to improve single-core performance.
The new development is expected to utilize the TSMC N2P process. Projections suggest that the IPC increase will remain under 10%, while power consumption levels are anticipated to stay consistent with the current sixth-generation Snapdragon 8 series.
Several manufacturers, including Xiaomi, vivo, Red Magic, Redmi, OPPO, OnePlus, Motorola, iQOO, and Honor, have integrated the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite chips into their flagship devices. Currently, only the Xiaomi 18 Pro series is available for purchase.
