Precision Neuroscience, a New York-based startup developing minimally invasive brain-computer interfaces, has secured $250 million in new funding. This investment brings hedge fund manager Bill Ackman into the sector alongside existing high-profile backers Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos.
Founded in 2021 by Benjamin Rapoport and Michael Mager, the company produces the Layer 7 Cortical Interface. This thin-film electrode array sits on the brain surface rather than inside the tissue. The device received FDA 510(k) clearance in April 2025 for temporary use up to 30 days.
The startup has already performed procedures on dozens of patients to build its clinical dataset. In January 2026, the company entered a partnership with Medtronic, a medical device firm valued at $110 billion, to integrate its technology with surgical navigation systems.
The current funding follows a Series C round in December 2024, which raised $102 million at a post-money valuation of approximately $500 million. Total disclosed funding for the startup has now significantly exceeded the $180 million raised prior to these rounds.
