Powerdot, a charging point operator based in Portugal, has integrated its network with the Hubject Plug & Charge ecosystem. This technology, based on the ISO 15118 standard, allows for automatic authentication between electric vehicles and chargers, removing the need for RFID cards or mobile applications.
The integration covers more than 7,000 charging points located in France, Spain, Belgium, and Poland. This figure represents over half of the total infrastructure managed by Powerdot, which currently operates 13,000 charging points across 2,400 European locations.
The system utilizes Hubject’s public key infrastructure to manage secure digital certificates between vehicles, charging hardware, and service providers. Powerdot focuses on destination charging, installing equipment at commercial sites like supermarkets, shopping centers, and restaurants.
The company maintains an open ecosystem, allowing integration with various mobility platforms and vehicle manufacturers without requiring a proprietary app. CEO Luís Santiago Pinto stated that the goal is to simplify the user experience by automating the authentication process in the background.
