A new Ukrainian-made drone receiver has been developed, weighing 290 grams. This device is lighter than existing models like the Vydun 7.5, which weighs 900 grams, the Chuyka 3.0 at 650 grams, and the SENSE-4 at 600 grams.
The receiver intercepts analog video signals from Russian strike drones at a distance of up to 6 miles. It specifically covers the 4.1 to 4.5 GHz frequency band, which Russian Molniya drones have utilized for video transmission since June.
Serhii Beskrestnov, a presidential advisor, noted that many existing detectors struggle to monitor these specific frequencies. He emphasized that these devices should be used alongside other sensors, such as radar and acoustic systems, rather than as a standalone defense.
The current technology is primarily limited to analog signal interception. While the D-Vision SDR claims digital detection capabilities, it is currently restricted to DJI drones. The device remains ineffective against fiber optic drones that rely on physical connections.
