Porsche has expanded a recall for its 911 and 718 sports car models due to a risk of wheel detachment. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reports that the new recall covers 548 vehicles from the 2024 model year.
Affected models include the 911 GT3, 911 GT3 RS, 911 Turbo, 911 Turbo S, 911 S/T, 911 Carrera GTS, 718 Cayman GT4 RS, and 718 Spyder RS. Porsche previously recalled 2,251 vehicles in October 2024 for the same issue.
The company initiated the expansion after receiving reports of central locking component failures in May and August. Investigations revealed that the initial screening process failed to identify all defective parts manufactured from the same batch of substandard materials.
Porsche is instructing owners to stop driving their vehicles immediately. The manufacturer will notify owners via phone, email, and the My Porsche application. Authorized dealers will inspect the central locking mechanisms and replace defective parts at no cost.
