Oracle has committed to 10 wind energy projects in Texas, which will generate over 1.7 gigawatts of carbon-free electricity. This capacity is intended to power the company's Abilene AI data center and support the ERCOT grid.

The initiative involves partnerships with renewable energy developers, including Clearway Energy, RWE, Scout Clean Energy, and ENGIE North America. Specifically, ENGIE has agreed to supply up to 568 megawatts of wind power, representing about one-third of the total project capacity.

The company estimates that these projects will reduce CO2 emissions by approximately 1.8 million metric tons annually compared to the average output of the ERCOT grid.

Mahesh Thiagarajan, executive vice president of Cloud Infrastructure, stated that this investment aligns with Oracle's objective to power 100% of its AI data centers with carbon-free energy by 2035.

In addition to the Texas wind projects, Oracle has initiated a request for proposals to secure further renewable energy capacity, specifically looking into solar and geothermal options in New Mexico.
