OpenAI has expanded its GPT-6 lineup with updated versions of the Sol and Luna models. The Sol model is optimized for complex operations such as coding, while Luna is tailored for high-volume clerical tasks, including document summarization and information extraction.
The company has reduced API access costs for the new series, setting prices at 50% of the previous 5.6 generation. OpenAI attributes this efficiency gain to advancements in caching and inference technologies.
Internal evaluations indicate that the new GPT-6 Sol model reduces error rates by approximately 50% compared to its predecessor. OpenAI claims the model now matches the reliability of the GPT-6 Astra version.
The updated models are currently available in ChatGPT Work, Codex, and via the ChatGPT API. Luna is also being deployed to the desktop application and is accessible to Free and Go users, with a gradual rollout across the web and mobile platforms.
