OpenAI has officially announced that support for the GPT-5.5 model will end on October 14, 2026. This change applies to all versions of the service, including ChatGPT, ChatGPT Work, and Codex, across all subscription tiers such as Business, Enterprise, and Edu.

While standard users will be migrated to newer models automatically, developers and enterprise clients must manually update their configurations. This includes adjusting custom agents, scheduled tasks, scripts, and saved parameters that explicitly reference the legacy GPT-5.5 model.

The company recommends transitioning to the GPT-5.6 Sol model, which is already available within the platform. Other models currently in the lineup include Terra and Luna, while development of the next-generation GPT-6 Astra continues.

The discontinuation of GPT-5.5 is limited to the ChatGPT and Codex interfaces. Developers utilizing the OpenAI API with an access key can continue to use the model, as the current policy change does not affect API-based workflows.
