OpenAI is currently in the early stages of negotiations to raise additional capital. This funding round is expected to value the startup at $1.2 trillion, a significant increase from the $852 billion valuation recorded in March.
The company faces rising financial requirements, having reported expenses of $34 billion last year. As of last month, OpenAI's annualized revenue reached $40 billion. To attract investors, the firm plans to highlight the performance of its recently launched Astra AI model family.
CEO Sam Altman has confirmed that OpenAI will not pursue an IPO this year due to AI safety concerns. Meanwhile, competitor Anthropic is preparing for a Nasdaq listing next month, aiming for a valuation of approximately $2 trillion while maintaining operational break-even status.
